Bodybuilder Valdir Segato, known as the ‘Brazilian Hulk’, has died at the age of 55. The TikTok star was reportedly injecting himself with synthol for years.
Valdir, who became a social media star over the years, died in Ribeiro Preto on his 55th birthday. For years he is said to have injected potentially deadly oil to fashion his 23-inch biceps.
The So Paulo native previously told the Daily Mail that he was inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s physique and the Marvel character, The Hulk.
Who was Valdir Segato?
Valdir Segato was a Brazilian bodybuilder and TikTok star with 1.7 million followers. His username on the forum read ‘userValdir Synthol Oficial’
The star gained popularity on social media for her inflated biceps, chest and trapezius muscles. He had made many Tiktok showing his unique physique.
According to the Daily Mail, Valdir had been using potentially life-threatening synthol injections for several years.
He was warned that he was at risk of stroke and infection, but still determined to increase his biceps, pectorals and other muscles.
A study on ‘The use of synthol in body building’ on Europe Pub Med Central states that: ‘The side effects of synthol are manifold and they can cause damage to the nerves, oil embolic of the pleura, occlusion of the pulmonary artery, myocardial infarction’ , cerebral stroke and infectious complications.’
The ‘Brazilian Hulk’ Was Warned He Would Face Amputation
Six years ago, a body transformation enthusiast was warned that he could face amputation. He also ran the risk of experiencing nerve damage and muscle deformity due to the synthol injection.
“They call me the Hulk, Schwarzenegger and He-Man all the time, and I love that. I’ve doubled my biceps but I still want to get bigger,” he told the Daily Mail in 2016.
Over the years, Valdir had grown his biceps to 23 inches and became known in the neighborhood as a “monster.” He was proud of this title.

Local media have reported that by the time of his death, Valdir had very few friends or visitors. The Brazilian Hulk was living a different life despite his internet fame.
A man named Moisés da Conceição da Silva said Valdir had rented a property behind his family’s home in Ribeirao Preto for more than 15 years.
The local also said that on the day of his death, Valdir had sought help from Moise’s mother. The bodybuilder was complaining of shortness of breath.
“It was around 6:00, more or less. He crawled from the back house and came in front. Then he knocked on my mother’s window, knocked, knocked, then she got up and said ‘Help me, help me because I’m dying,’ said the local according to Brazil’s Globo news.
