Norman Black made a remarkable comeback as he guided Meralco to a 99-88 victory over San Miguel Beer in Game 2 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinals series on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
With their veteran coach back on the bench, the Bolts played with fire, passion and intensity to win and avoid a dangerous 0-2 hole while turning the series into a best-of-five.
Veteran banger Cliff Hodge also showed his defensive prowess and lifted five Meralco cagers in double digits, including 17 markers and 14 rebounds that gave Black a warm welcome since he left the team on June 30 .
Aaron Black and Allein Maliksi each scored 15 points, Chris Newsome had 14 markers and nine rebounds, and defensive lineman Raymar Jose was a standout player with 13 points and four boards.
