Gabriel Jesus’ debut was a talking point ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Crystal Palace – and the striker did not disappoint.
The Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign with a tough trip to Selhurst Park tonight.
And with 45 minutes to go, Arsenal look comfortable – very comfortable.
It ended 1-0 for the North London players but one of the reasons to be happy before the second half is Jesus.
The former Manchester City striker was uncharacteristic at times in the opening 45 minutes, with Patrick Vieira’s side struggling against the Brazilian.
In the first few minutes of the match, Jesus showed his excellent footwork and inadvertently opened up a great opportunity for Gabriel Martinelli, who went wide of the post.
Still, it’s been a good competitive debut for the South American striker so far and Jamie Carragher hit the nail on the head in the end, describing him succinctly as ‘sharp’.
He told Sky Sports: “Jesus looks sharp.”
It is important that Arsenal convert any chances that arise after the break.
Although they looked comfortable, the Eagles had plenty of chances to equalize and those were huge reminders that the Gunners need to be taken care of when opportunities arise.
In other news, the BBC commentator says that the youngster could have a big season at Liverpool, he will not play against Fulham.
