Telset.id, Jakarta – Meta has decided to disable the Facebook Live Shopping feature, in the Facebook app. Although this feature is mostly used by sellers when selling their products online on Facebook.

It should be noted that the Facebook Live Shopping feature is widely used by Facebook Business users to sell their products. Because in Live Shopping, sellers can showcase their products in a live streaming format.

Meanwhile, the payment process can be done through Facebook Messenger, so all transactions are done online. Although this feature is quite complex, Meta as the parent company of Facebook, even closed the service.

Quoted The phone from Engadget on Thursday (4/8/2022), according to Facebook’s official site this feature will be closed on October 1, 2022.

Instead, Meta advises marketers to display products with Reels, Reels ads, and tag the product on Facebook and Instagram Reels. In other words, Meta is like deliberately turning off Shopping Live so that the Reels feature can be used for trading.

“As consumer behavior shifts to shorter videos, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s short video product,” Meta wrote in its post.

It’s not surprising that Meta is driving more marketers to Reels Facebook and Instagram ads, given the fact that Instagram Reels revenue reached $1 billion in the second quarter of this year.

So it seems that Meta wants to increase the income from Facebook and Instagram Reels, by inviting sellers to sell their items through Reels.
