While the government is struggling with the issue of migrants crossing the English Channel illegally, Albanians are sneaking into the UK via Ireland exploiting the border between the two countries.

All Albanians have to do to get to Britain is to get fake European Union IDs and fly to Dublin from where a group of people smugglers arrange their journey to the UK by taxi and ferry, The Telegraph said.

At £2,500 per person and £300 to £400 for fake identity proof, the “secure” Irish route is cheaper than the dangerous channel crossing costs of up to £5,500.

Migrants are being advised to “make a lot of noise” and ask for asylum if they are challenged in Dublin and will be released “within 12 hours”, according to a gang organizer.

“Then a taxi arrives and you can get to England quickly,” he told an undercover reporter.

“You need to get a fake European ID so you can easily get to Dublin,” he added, “we have a price of £2,500 from Dublin to England.”

He said the journey was “100 per cent secure” and that journeys to the UK were being made “every day”.

Irish gangs take advantage of the fact that passports are required to travel between the UK and Ireland.

Air and sea carriers say they need some form of identification, but the documents are not routinely checked, the newspaper said.

Proof of EU identity is sufficient to travel to Ireland even though it is not part of the Schengen Area.

Traffickers compress their messages on TikTok. One such message with a picture of a taxi read, “Ireland is 100 percent safe.” It also said, “There is no need to go through customs with a private taxi.”

The National Crime Agency has said that organized immigration crime is an ever-changing threat as the scale and complexity change.

“We are also working with our partners including immigration, police and law enforcement overseas, to support their investigations,” an NCA spokesperson said. The Telegraph.

Even on the English Channel route, Albanians make up the majority of migrants stopped by UK border security forces.

About 25,000 migrants have crossed the Channel this year and between 50 and 60 per cent of them are Albanian, according to Home Office officials.
