Sheff G says parole board denied his early releaseNovember 17, 2022
It looks like an early release from his two-year prison bid is not in the cards for 2021 HipHopDX Rising Star Sheff G.
The Brooklyn drill rapper was handed down the sentence in October 2021 after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. In a post to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (November 16), he let fans know that he wouldn’t be coming home any earlier.
“Damn parole denied me my early release,” he wrote. “Shout out to all the fans, I love y’all #FreeMe #FreeAllTheGuys.”Over the summer, fellow Brooklyn rapper 22Gz claimed in a since-deleted Twitter post that Sheff was being “extorted” while in jail. The latter responded to the allegations in an Instagram post, denying that anything of the sort had taken place.
“Done hurd I turn this and that .. done hurd im getting extorted and allat lies and rumors that the broke dirty and worthless has made up Imao, whats next?” he wrote.
“N-ggas better ask anyone they kno up in these upstate prisons about me ! , million dollar nigga chilling in general population never been disrespected without the boomerang effect, all yu got is ya name and ya word .. and my name would never be tainted, my reputation speaks for itself… mr front line action … mr movie himself!”
According to court papers, Sheff G was arrested in August 2020 after leading two Nassau County Police Department cars on a high speed chase through a quiet Long Island town. He sped through an intersection and swiped the bumper of a woman’s car before crashing into a tree in a suburban yard. The woman, Alexia Friend, filed a lawsuit against Sheff G for damaging her new Cadillac in October 2020.
“After the collision, [Friend] exited her car and observed that [Sheff G’s] vehicle continued traveling down Kings Point Road, where it then struck a tree, and was swarmed by police vehicles, which apparently had been in hot pursuit of the speeding Defendant,” Friend’s lawyer, Marc Battipaglia, wrote in a motion at the time.
Since his incarceration, Sheff has been passing the time with video games. In March, the RCA signee shared a video of himself happily playing GTA V on a PlayStation 4 inside the Robert N. Davoren Center, which is part of Rikers Island. His Winners Circle crew continues to hold it down for Sheff on the outside, releasing music and visuals in homage to their incarcerated group member.
