A leaked audio of Barcelona star, Riqui Puig, is circulating online where he revealed that European giants, Chelsea and AC Milan both wanted him on board. Spanish journalist Joan Fontes, in his podcast Off the record, revealed that the 23-year-old had his reasons for staying at Camp Nou.
In the leaked audio, Puig can be heard talking to a few strangers at his driving school back in February. He said signing for Chelsea or Rossoneri you would have seen him get lonely. Although the salary would be higher, he decided to stay in Barcelona.
The midfielder is heard saying:
“I found Chelsea and Milan. I didn’t leave because I’m in a good situation here in Barcelona. There, they will pay me twice but I will be alone.”
There has never been any doubt about the Spaniard’s great talent and ability. However, the midfielder has been consistently overlooked at the Catalan club. As a result, he didn’t have a chance to bloom properly or gain momentum.
Puig has only one year left on his contract at Barcelona. He is now set to leave the Spanish giants this summer to join the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS).
Refer an expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that LA Galaxy have reached a full agreement with Barcelona and the player regarding the deal. A buyout clause is included in Puig’s contract and the midfielder will spend the next three years in MLS.
During his time at Camp Nou, he played 57 matches The Blaugrana in four seasons, although he was always a bit part player. Hopefully playing in the MLS will help The Farmhouse graduate to fulfill his potential and come back strong in Europe.
Barcelona offer Chelsea the chance to sign 3 players
According to the Evening Standard, the The Blaugrana gave the Blues the opportunity to sign up to three of their players. It has been a somewhat frustrating transfer window for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who have lost two successive transfer battles to Barcelona.
Both European giants have gone after Leeds United striker Raphinha and Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. Chelsea looked hopeful of signing both at the same time, but ultimately lost the race as both joined the Catalan club.
The Spanish giants have now offered the English club the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay.
The West London club have yet to make contact with the trio’s representatives, although they have expressed an interest in signing De Jong.
