What’s new in Windows 11 Internal Preview Build 25174
Game Pass Widget
Microsoft has added a Game Pass widget to the widget board. It will show new games added to the service, games coming soon, and installed apps. Clicking on the widget will open a listing of the corresponding game in the Xbox app.
Technically, one can find this information in the Xbox app. I think having a widget for it makes it easier to find information with one click.
To add a widget, press the Widgets button on the taskbar. Click the + button in the upper right corner, and select the Game Pass widget.
Note: Microsoft is A/B testing this feature, so it may not be available to all insiders yet.
The built-in File Manager supports middle-clicking on folders in the navigation pane. This touch will open the directory in a new tab.
Fixes in Windows 11 Internal Preview Build 25174
Microsoft says that opening new File Explorer windows will not cause Explorer.exe to crash. Explorer Dark Mode support has been improved, launching it in other ways, such as from the command line, should render the interface correctly instead of showing the File Explorer body, and the left and right arrow keys in light mode.
UI issues that occurred when switching to full screen mode in File Explorer have been fixed. An issue that caused Taskbar components to disappear has been fixed. Trying to access System > Storage > Disks and volumes should not cause a crash.
Mouse and keyboard input was not working in some games in the last 2 flights, the problem has been solved. SQL Server Management Studio failed to launch for some users, Microsoft has fixed this issue. The Windows Security app was showing a warning that it would not be allowed due to incompatible drivers. The list of incompatible drivers was empty, this bug has been removed. Some applications were not started while primary partitioning was enabled in Windows Security, a new feature fixes this problem.
Known issues in Windows 11 Internal Preview Build 25174
There are 8 new known issues in this build. Audio playback does not work for some users. Gaming performance has taken over, with a decrease in FPS, the problem is due to the use of the wrong graphics card (Integrated/Dedicated GPU). Some programs have been crashing on recent builds.
Shortcuts to Home, Documents, Pictures, and other folders can be duplicated in the File Explorer pane, or appear on the desktop. The background color of the search box in File Explorer may differ from your current mode (Dark/Light).
The Delete key may stop working in File Explorer, as a workaround, Microsoft recommends using the context menu. Attempting to print from other applications, such as Excel, may cause hangs and crashes. Printing tables from certain tables has a problem where rows are not included in the output.
Other known issues related to Easy Anti-Cheat, File Explorer, and widgets remain unpublished in Build 25174.
